Farewell Jimmy- Seamus an t-Airíoch

On Wednesday 31st of January 2018 we bade farewell to our caretaker Jimmy Healy. Jimmy first started working in Scoil Mhuire in 1993 and went on to spend more than 24 years working with us! As well as fulfilling  his role of caretaker , Jimmy was a very important member of the Scoil Mhuire community. His rendition of Oh Holy Night at the  Christmas  Carol Service will be forever etched in our memories. On Jimmy’s last day in Scoil Mhuire the pupils and staff came together in the halla to show Jimmy our appreciation for all his years of service. The pupils in each class had written their own poetry  about Jimmy and a sample were read aloud . The whole school sang a rendition of “Ob la di Ob la da Life goes on” by the Beatles and Jimmy joined in with some other familiar tunes. The school then unveiled a beautiful, stone bird table in the school yard in memory of all Jimmy’s work in the school grounds and also in feeding and caring for the birds. There was also a presentation on behalf of the Parents and Friends association by Lena Askoy and from the board of management by Fr George. We will all miss Jimmy and we wish him health happiness and good luck in the future.
