Play and creativity are key ideas in the new curriculum. Our pupils certainly get plenty of opportunities to be playful and creative through music and drama activities at Scoil Mhuire.

Music is a language that every girl learns at Scoil Mhuire. It is a language that allows for wonderful self-expression and creativity and is inclusive of all. We are passionate here in Scoil Mhuire about fostering and developing a love for Music.

The talented girls in 4th, 5th, and 6th class engage in a journey to master the art of playing the tin whistle. Guiding them on this melodious adventure is Múinteoir Aoife, a skilled instructor hailing from the prestigious Cork School of Music.

Girls from 3rd to 6th are also afforded the opportunity to join the school choir. Their dulcet tones can be heard every Wednesday after school from September to May. We have performed in the City Hall, Cork Airport and also at local Nursing Homes.

All classes across the school avail of Speech and Drama Lessons during the school year. These lessons are partly funded by the generosity of the Parents and Friends Association. Tara O’ Connor of Spotlight Stageschool is our talented dance and drama teacher.

Our biggest celebration of Music, Art and Drama happens during our Annual Arts week. The girls experience a wonderfully immersive and enriching week exploring a theme through the Creative Arts, making learning a truly enjoyable experience for everyone.
